**¡Qué lo qué, mi gente hermosa!** 🇩🇴✨ Hoy la costa de Boston se siente un poquito diferente. Si te acercas al puerto, además del olor a la brisa del mar, vas a encontrar algo que para muchos de nosotros huele a hogar. El **Juan Bautista Cambiaso**, el emblemático buque escuela de la Armada de la República Dominicana, ha llegado oficialmente a Boston.

Y ver nuestra bandera ondeando en un puerto de Massachusetts… se siente distinto.

Para quienes vivimos en la diáspora, el mar siempre ha tenido un significado especial. Es la distancia entre el lugar donde nacimos —o donde nacieron nuestros padres y abuelos— y el lugar donde estamos construyendo nuestras vidas. Es el espacio que separa la isla que amamos de la ciudad donde trabajamos, formamos nuestras familias, sanamos y perseguimos nuestros sueños. Muchas veces somos nosotros quienes miramos hacia Quisqueya con nostalgia. Pero esta semana ocurrió algo hermoso.

**Quisqueya vino a visitarnos.**

Este barco no es solo una embarcación militar ni una atracción para visitar un fin de semana. Es un símbolo de nuestra historia. Un recordatorio de que somos un pueblo con profundas raíces marítimas, con espíritu aventurero y con una historia que siempre ha ido mucho más allá de nuestras costas. Los dominicanos no solo llegamos a nuevos lugares. Siempre hemos navegado, construido, trabajado y dejado huellas dondequiera que echamos anclas.

Si eres dominicano y estás en el área de Boston, tómalo como una invitación. Lleva a tus hijos. Lleva a tus padres. Llama a tus primas, a tus tíos y a tus amigos. Súbanse a ese barco. Caminen por su cubierta. Miren nuestra bandera ondear con orgullo. Permítanse sentir lo que significa pertenecer a un pueblo que ha aprendido a enfrentar las tormentas sin dejar de avanzar.

Porque ser parte de la diáspora no significa estar lejos de casa.

Significa llevar la casa contigo.

Y, de vez en cuando, la vida nos regala momentos como este, en los que la isla cruza el océano para recordarnos quiénes somos.

### **The Island just docked in Boston." 🇩🇴⚓️**

🇩🇴⚓️ The coast of Boston looks a little different today. If you step outside and head down to the water, you’ll catch the scent of salt water mixed with something that feels entirely like home. The \*Juan Bautista Cambiaso\*, the Dominican Navy’s iconic training ship, has officially docked in Boston.  
  
Seeing that flag flying in a Massachusetts harbor hits different.  
  
For so many of us in the diaspora, our relationship with the ocean is complicated. It’s the space between who we are and where we came from—the physical distance between the island we love and the city where we are building our wealth, our healing, and our families. We are so used to looking back toward the island. But this week? The island came to us.  
  
This isn't just a military vessel or a tourist attraction. It is a reminder that our history is global, our maritime roots are deep, and we belong in every harbor, every room, and every city we occupy. We didn't just arrive here; we have always been navigating, building, and rising.  
  
If you are a first-gen Dominican in the Boston area, this is your sign to grab your primas, your tías, and your kids. Go stand on that deck. Touch the wood. Look at the flag. Let yourself feel the weight of what it means to be part of a people who know how to survive the storm and still sail forward. You don't have to navigate this diaspora journey alone, sis. Sometimes, the universe sends a whole ship just to remind you who you are.
